    Bad News For My Marauder

Well, as many of you know, I traded in my 04 Marauder (4920 miles) for a new 2006 Corvette Z06. As my wife and I were leaving the dealership we saw the used car mgr and the salesman get in the Marauder. They couldn't wait to take it out for a spin. Well being a couple of jerks, they stopped at the dealers gas pump and proceeded to fill the tank with low octane regular gas. They proceeded up I95 flooring at, and at about the 2nd to 3rd gear shift it threw a rod through the side of the block At any rate, the car was sold as is at the Ft. Laud car auction this week for $14,000. The dealer, Phil Smith Chevrolet, took about a $15,000. hit on this deal.

OMG!!!!! What fools! I had a buddy of mine call them up last week to get it, but they said it was gone. I guess it really was GONE! Such a shame.
    Best,
    Rick

Just like a CHEVY DEALER to mess up a good FORD.

Are you going to let these same guys drive your Z06,
Or have they already had their fun ?

You got $29K ACV for trade against a Z06? That's pretty amazing.

Edit: ahhh, now I savvy. Your trade had a Trilogy supercharger, and some other goodies. Still, considering Lidio is asking less for his, and his has a lot of extra goodies, you did well.

You would not believe the dumb-assedness you will find at your friendly neighborhood Mr. Goodwrench's place. It's a problem for Vette owners and likewise for SSR owners (worse, because the Vette doesn't have as complicated a convertible top.)

Aren't the dual knock sensors supposed to prevent such disaster?

Even with DUAL knock sensors, you can't keep TWO stupid *********s out of a car.

That's a damn shame. Ususally people wiat years to find out what happened to their previous rides. This took less than 2 weeks. I bet $$$ that those 2 Idiots got canned big time.

Call 1-800-FORD-788 and press "1". Have the last 6 of your VIN handy. You will get the numbers for FREE. You'll pay $$$ for the certificate.

MM traded in 8/9/13 @ 128909 miles. It was fun for almost 8 years. I met airmercpun on 1/17/14. He was the new owner of my former ride. -Now gone.

Update: back in the game with a late build 03 GMGS with some MM add ons like Escape audiophile radio w/Sirius sat radio, rear sway bar, catback exhaust, and header panel.

    Rest In Peace:

See my garage file for part numbers and whatnot.

IMHO, this site- the members that I chat with- and the ones that I now Hang with- are like my 2nd family. There is such an ongoing welcome feeling here that even members who don't or no longer own the MM can feel.

If his car in fact had a Trilogy like some members suggested, the kit eliminates the knock sensors if I remember correctly.
A well set up knock sensor (in the tuning) can be programmed to pull tons of timing if knock is detected. As much as 15 degrees if necessary.
Ill let others chime in here about the Trilogy set up, but I set up my car with foolproof values so something like this would never happen.
