    Lightbulb S-55 Emblem...

I have the S-55 emblem and ready to install it, but I have some reserve, back in 1963, the S-55 designation was mostly an interior trim package upgrade, which included sports bucket seats, center console, exterior touches were special wheel covers & slick emblem badging, there was also an engine option upgrade to the 427 ci.

I want to be sure that I understand the theme of the Marauder back then, and the Marauder now. So in a sense, we already have all those options, and then some, so Marauder and S-55 are in a sense "synonymous" to each other.

So if I were ever asked what that S-55 emblem meant, I would reply with "Marauder", right ?

Its your car, so you can do whatever you want. But the new emblems are made after the S-55 concept car that had a S/C in it. But by all means Carlos, you dont have to have an S/C to put one of those great looking S-55 emblems on it.

FWIW here is the link to the concept car = http://www.crownvicmuscle.com/galler...x.php?car=s_55

Uhg! Am I the only one that cannot view the larger version of the thumbnails on that site? I have been sent that link by three of my friends and I can't see the bigger pictures.

    Sorry for jacking the thread!

Those bigger pictures don't like to show up in the pop-up for me either.

I too have the S55 badges on my car, and I love them. They and the god's heads really add to the WTF factor.

I was never able to get the pictures to enlarge either, so I copied all the links out of the source a while back. I'll save you guys the trouble now:

    Question Alternate Placement.....

According to the concept Marauder, the emblem goes under the rear passenger side tail light, on the body colored molding. This body colored molding has a slight curve in it and the emblem does not sit flat up against it.

What is the consensus on an alternate location for the S-55 emblem.

I was thinking on the opposite side of where the Police Interceptor badge goes on the Crown Vic's. (Right Side).

I installed mine in this position as per the concept car - no problem with the contour of the trim! If you place it on the left side of the trim closer to the trunk it fits flat on the trim when centered top to botom.

That's what I did! I want to be as close as possible to the concept, so I can tell people it's an extremely limited edition! .....ok, ok, I already have....does that make me a bad person?

I am so glad that somebody asked about 'S-55' so I wouldn't have to. I felt like a nerd asking CarFixer what the hell 'DTR' meant. Anyway, I would not compare it to the "SS" GM moniker. GM puts an "SS" or "Z" on almost every piece of crap they make. Kinda takes the novelty out of it, eh?

I feel so sick every time I look at those photos, honestly. 345 HP and TQ

is what this car should have come with stock. The red trim on the S/C

and polished engine is insane! I remember when these photos came

out, they were happier times ...

I agree completely. Think of all the money we would save if they came stock with a blower....*sigh*
