It's either glued or clip-fitted in. I hear it's quite thin though, and easily dented. I can imagine trying to remove it will most likely damage it, even if you are really careful it will bend.
We'll see if anyone has removed it before...

The plastic badge is held in place by a couple of fold over tabs on the back side. You must remove the airbag cover to have access to the tabs.

You are correct about how many tabs are there. However, I would not take the chance on pulling the air bag assy apart to do this. I came across a GM that had a deployed driver air bag. After close inspection on the inside, the horn pad is in the way. I was able to access the button at the 11 o'clock position with a pen knife. After the button is removed, forget about putting it back in.
This information may help my fellow members who have aftermarket buttons from either CAR Motorsports or Colex Inc.

MM traded in 8/9/13 @ 128909 miles. It was fun for almost 8 years. I met airmercpun on 1/17/14. He was the new owner of my former ride. -Now gone.
Update: back in the game with a late build 03 GMGS with some MM add ons like Escape audiophile radio w/Sirius sat radio, rear sway bar, catback exhaust, and header panel.

IMHO, this site- the members that I chat with- and the ones that I now Hang with- are like my 2nd family. There is such an ongoing welcome feeling here that even members who don't or no longer own the MM can feel.
