James,
Well it's in the Dallas area,
I know nothing about shopping etc (I only go to Fun Ford, and other races in the area,oh and the Motorcycle show )
But the Dallas Zoo is pretty good.
You got Six Flags,Water World.
Reunion Sq.
I'm sure the locals can expand this list.
Coming from CA.,I here theres a Big Hole in AZ. some people like to look at.
Vegas could be on the way, back.
If you have little kids it could be a long weekend with them at the track.
My wife can only stand about 2-3 hours of "just hanging out" then starts tugging at the car keys.
For car stuff she stays home,by her choice.
I don't look at the check book or credit card statements and we're even.
Need a date so I can put in for the vacation time.
Cyclone,
Got a kick out of your post.
I saw that hole in the ground in Arizona several years ago. For someone as into astronomy as I am it is a very cool thing. Too bad I lunched a transmission in the family van on the way to see it (last Chrysler product I owned), took all the fun out of it.
The kids are older (16 & 17) so a stop in Vegas on the way back may just get them and the wife to go for it!
I'll start working on them right away!

James with 2 kids at driving age you can leave on Thursday and drive strait through,so that will save on hotel exspense.
I forgot about that hole,I was thinking about the ditch that was carved out by that little stream about 2 million years ago.
Count me in...
