    Question Coolant Temp. UP?

    Question,

Lately when I go from crusing 40 mph or so ( temp is 188deg.) to
WOT for 3 sec. or so to get to 80 mph the temp. jumps to 194deg.

Seems to be too hot to fast.
Could it be cats. or mufflers backing up.
Rad. fluid is at correct level.
    69K miles.

    Any thoughts?

I know this might be a stupid question but what type of oil are you using, and what type of oil filter, some oil filters flow better than others, you could also get an infared gun and aim it at your radiator to see if you have any hot spots, you can also aim it at your exhaust system, take temperatures of your cats and mufflers, I can do this on mine and then post the results, I am assuming since you know the exact temperature you have some different type of gauge, make sure it is hooked up right or it will give a false reading, also make sure there is no debris in your radiator fins, also how is the level in your trans fluid and when is the last time you changed it, have you done any modifications to the car, also make sure there are no dents in your exhaust system, remember the exhaust is part of your cooling system as well as the oil and the transmission since you have trans cooling lines going to the radiator, also check the condition of the coolant, with motor oil synthetic oil will run cooler , it does not leave deposits, are you using a 5w-20 or 5w-30 motor oil any thicker could maybe be leading to higher temps, as I said I have an infared gun and can compare temps if you like, also check your accesory drive belt as it is supposed to be changed at 4 years or 60K, hope this information helps
