If Autometer sends me another sending unit free, I'll leave it. I cut open the last worn out sender. I wish they'd get into the 21st centry already

You can probably find a higher quality sender compatible with the Autometer gauge from VDO, Nordskog, etc.

Sorry to hi-jack, but what is the difference between the UL and UL II?

I plan on replacing the stock OP and Volt gauges with real, matching gauges and adding the tranny temp gauge where the lighter is. Just wondering which to go with?

I figure the tranny temp gauge would be good to do at the same time the new FRPP tranny cooler goes in.

The UL have perimeter lighting using an incandescent bulb. The UL II gauges are back-lit using an LED. Both look exactly the same in daylight, but at night, the face of the UL II appears to change from light to dark, just like the dashboard instrumentation, and it's MUCH easier to read than the UL. It's also easier to install, using spade lugs instead of the stud-and-nut used by the UL.

    Thank You!
I just thought that I was going blind due to advancing age!
My Ultralite gauges are hard to read at night, even with the brightness adjusted all the way up.

    Crap!
That figures! The Ultalite II were not available when I bought my gauges.
My Ultralite gauges look great during the day, but at night they are the 'reverse' of the OEM gauges.
Oh well....I'll add that to the list of mods that I can't afford.

BTW: While driving around in today's cold weather my transmission temperature barely got above 100 degrees either before or after the coolers.
