    Long Distance towing fees?

Planning a trip about 150miles out to do some camping, and may be borrowing an older '95 Suburban for the trip instead of takin the Marauder. The truck has got high mileage and recent work done but has been sitting alot in the past 6 months.

Part of me wonders what would happen if I took it and it had a serious breakdown.

Any idea what a 150mile tow fee would be?

I would load up the Burb and take it on a short trip to make sure it doesn't over heat and the transmission works ok etc.

That was my original plan but may not have as much time as I hoped for shakedown. I had hoped to just commute with it to work for a week but if it's ready in time (we've still got to replace the axleshafts, they are worn out) I may only have a day or so to maybe run errands in it.

The other option is takin' the Marauder but man that truck would be so much better for hauling gear and not worrying about dirt/sand. (Beach camping...)

Do you have AAA Plus? If so, it's free up to 100 miles! It's a simple upgrade and about $40 a month. You could upgrade, then go back to the regular one once you're back from the trip?

It sounds like you're coming out my way... If it breaks down you've got a ride back to Alexandria and/or a spare set of hands. - C

Yeah we camp at Assateague - I'd have a ride back, my friend has an RV they plan to take. The burb would be support vehicle. If not, the 'rauder will be.

Regarding the Marauder, I'm more worried about sand and the parking situation up at OC for the show!

Then again they have a shuttle bus, and the Marauder would be good for cruisin'

Right now though, I'm not sure the Suburban will be ready in time, but, I want to still consider it as an option so I need to factor in the risk of a breakdown which means a baseline estimate on a tow fee to get it back home "worst case." Middle case it breaks and I got my tools and do a beachside repeair. Good case it gets us there and back with no issues. Best case I find out chicks dig 12 year old 150,000 mile Suburbans.

You can always park in my condo lot and cruise on the bus... I'll get you a pass for the weekend if you like... I'm hitting the dragstrip on rte 13 on the 20th to run the MM for the first time. They're having their Ford Motorsport day on that Sunday. PM me if you need anything...
