Thread: I wanted to put either 22 inch or 24 inch rims on

I wanted to put either 22 inch or 24 inch rims on

I was just wondering if the suspension would raise the car high enough to ride around on 24 in. rims, and when i turn the car off will it lower too far down and make the car rest on my rims

    Please help!

Dont bother, first off IMO it looks stupid on a muscle sedan. 2ndly, its very unsafe. Alot of CV's/GM's/MM's that have been crashed have 22" or 24" rims and they lose control. Plus i dont think rubber band tires are really suited for everyday driving, hit a NY or philly pothole and bye bye bling bling.

20's would still look good and be safe and all, as long as the offset is correct.

Just my 2 cents, the people on car domain with the 24's on there marauders voted me down because they didn't like that my car looked better

Check my photo gallery, I HAD 22s on my crown vic with 35 series tires, no rub, no suspension mods. The ride really is not as good, they stick out a little and run a chance of rubbing. If you are all about cruising and looking good, by all means go for it. If you are into spirited driving, take it from me, go 20s or smaller.

I have had custom rims on every vehicle I have owned since I was 16 and in every case it significantly enhanced the looks and in some cases the performance of the car. But hands down the Marauder rims cannot be improved upon and in a limited edition vehicle it adds to resale value in many cases. Save the money you would waste, I mean spend on deuce dubs and invest it in suspension, braking or engine mods. I'm done.

Ahh, I beg to differ. I appreciate your point, but I do think I improved my looks and handling with my staggered 18F and 20R setup.

Technically, you could run a 20 up front and a 22 out back with no rubbing, provided you got the proper offsets. Getting those offsets is a NIGHTMARE to find (ask me how I know) unless you have the rims custom made.

Further, The 30 series tires would be like riding on rocks (Flintstone style).

I did not go under 45 series for comfort's sake. As such, the largest rim was 20 out back. Keeping a nice wide tire up front led me to an 18 to keep close to the stock outside diameters for handling, braking, and safety.

My search took a long time and a LOT of math. It was worth it and you can tell by how well they suit the car.

Go ahead and throw some 22's or 24's on. Just don't come crying to us when you wreck or otherwise screw up the car.

    You've been advised....

Me personally I would not go bigger than 20's. Specifically Bullet wheels. If you do go with 22's, 24's know it would be VERY wise to upgrade the brakes, sway bars, and control arms for the car. Cars were not built to handle the stress that a very large wheel can dish out. Decreased performance, harsher ride, increased stopping distance, decreased fuel economy, and cost(tires and rim repairs)

22's will fit with no rubbing (depending on the offset). I would prefer 20x8.5 in the front and 20x10 in the rear. Depending on the style of rim I think it would look great with the staggard stance. Just my .02 cents

why stop at 24, raise suspension and go 30! I'll need some spare parts down the road.
