    Spare tire mounting bolt

After more than a month of having my spare rolling loose in the trunk, I decided to finally not be lazy and put it back where it belongs (especially now that it isn't so cold outside). Well, I unfortunately discovered that the bolt is now missing. I always leave these things in the trunk, but it just plain up and walked away. Called my local Ford dealer and they want $70 for the bloody thing. $70 for a damned bolt! Anyway, would anyonw know where I could pick one up for $20 or less? I'd like to have my cargo space back.

Get a screw hook about 5/16'' to 1/2'', in stainless and a BIG washer, and a wing nut, shouldnt be more than 4 bucks. OTherwise you can probably get one for free at the junkyard.

I still have the big black plastic nut. I'm only missing the bolt. But that isn't a bad idea...

Since it's still in the trunk, I'll just lug it along when I shop for a new bolt and test it all out. Good thinking. I honestly probably would have bought a bolt that looked right but didn't fit. There are times when I can be something of an airhead. :-P

$70 for the bolt, did your dealers parts guy show the the picture of what you need on the parts screen. Somethings wrong with this picture. He's gotta be ordering the wrong part.

Well, I don't to worry about it now. I took a moment to peek under the trunk organizer, and BAM! there it was. Wish I would of thought of that before posting a dumb thread.

If you lose it again (or break it, as I did), then you can make a replacement for a couple dollars using parts from Home Depot.
