    Marauder Replacement Tire Buying Guide

    The Marauder replacement tire buying guide is nearly complete. Feel free to contribute directly or provide feedback to me here. Enjoy!

    P.S. - I still need pictures! Particularly, I'd like close-ups of the tire placard and the different tires.

    Thanks Red;

    Your work is appreciated. Comparisons of tires on a single document is very helpful.

    Looking at the chart it would seem the stock tire tread wear figure is still the best. yet that is our biggest complaint about the tire.

    Did I read this right?

    You read that correctly. However, the treadwear is only a valuable comparison when comparing tire models for a single manufacturer. Unfortunately, there isn't much accountability when it comes to how manufacturers select/estimate a treadwear rating, and what one tire manufacturer calls a 400 can be a 300 by another. This is common in sport tires. Also, the treadwear does not consider factors such as loading, pressure, and alignment. On our heavy cars, we're going to eat tires fast, no matter what. It just gets worse with spirited, high speed, and sometimes long-distance driving due to heat buildup and consequently quicker breakdown.

    That's really helpful, to people like myself, who know little about the important stuff, regarding tires...

    Thanks! It still needs some work, so I'll try to clean it up a little more in my spare time next week. I've found a few new tire options and want to research them some more before posting them there.

    Thanks! 'Z' was from the old speed rating codes and is not a component of the service description. It is still commonly used as part of the size to indicate a tire that is capable of speeds in excess of 149MPH. 'Z' tires can be rated as W or Y. I'll add this clarification to the speed rating section.

    needs some work:

    https://www.mymarauder.com/wiki/inde...bination_Sizes

    How can the third last combo be 29.92% different from stock?

    We also need to add the perfered wheel alignment specs so we can sticky it in one place.

    Red you can Falken Ziex S/T Z01 to the mix. 235/50 for the fronts and 255/55 for the rears.

    Falken Tire

    I'm using them on my Marauder now and have been very pleased with them.

    The number is the percent change of the front-rear difference. Let me know if you have a problem with the math or estimation (please provide more details than simply "needs some work").

    Congrats on the new tires! If you and the others determine they're suitable and safe replacements for the BFGs, I'll add them to the common options list. Report back once you get some miles on them. Thanks!
