Mebot, one of the key points to look at is speed rating. The tires may be listed as SUV/Light Truck, but that shouldn't be a problem as long as they have speed ratings in the "higher" letters (W, V, Z).

Yeah that's one of the filters I've been using: making sure to have the speed rating be at V or higher.
The SUV/Light truck designation was just throwing me off. Thanks for the prompt response!

Well, I'm a bit late to the tire replacement game, but Wednesday I had a pair of General Grabber UHP's put on the rear wheels, size P255/55R18. The Nitto 420s were within $1.00 per tire, but the salesman reccommended not mixing Z (OE fronts) and V (Nitto) speed ratings. I personally doubt this makes much difference, but decided to try the Generals and figure next time I'll need four tires and I can try the Nittos then. Only 60-70 miles on these so far, but they're quiet and look good. I'll get a better idea, as well as speedo/odo error next weekend when I head to Indy to visit relatives. Interesting that Tire Rack thinks this is a dangerous combo??. I've been up to 75 on the interstate a few times and haven't felt "unstable." The Generals have an XL load rating and thus a 51 psi max pressure, vs. 44psi max for the std. load G-forces. I'd been running 40psi all around on the BFGs w/ no noticeable difference in ride quality vs. 34-35psi.Will have to play around w/ the pressures a bit. The rear BFGs were almost down to the wear bars at 19,5xx miles, which is pretty dismal.

Pulled the trigger on BLUE's new skins. Goodyear Eagle f1's 235 50 18 up front, 255 55 18 rear. Gotta love a tire that doesn't offer a wear warranty Good price, 210 ea front 220 ea rear.

I went through two sets of BF Goodrich and nothing but heartache and headaches. The first set had premature inside edge wear on the front and the rears wore down the middle. Many of us complanined about this. The KDW2 were the noisiest tire I ever road on. My Marauder actually vibrated and the rear view mirror vibrated so bad everything looked blurry. I've had BF Goodrich on Grand Marquis I've owend in the past and got horrible results as well. I have been riding on the matched Googyear Eagles F1 with 235 in the front and 255 in the rear and very very important, I had my mechaic use the alignment recommended on our web site. The result is 30,000 miles and they are wearing as true as can be, even on the edges. The traction is incredible and handling even better, even without the suggested road force balancing. Only problem of course is they are ultra high performance tires so I work home on snow days since there is virtually no traction in snow, slush or ice. Its a no brainer for me to buy these again.

BLUE's new shoes went without a problem.
1.) Honest, I don't know what happened.....*cough cough*
2.) New shoes just-a-waitin'
3.) I wore off my wear bars. hehehehehehehe. The BFG send-off party went well.
4.) Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Good to get off your feet once in a while.

Ty knine...I was looking for this...Why isnt this sticky...or is it?
It looks as if onlinetires.com does have the elusive BFGoodrich 245/55-18 although I am not sure what will happen when I actually go to "check-out", it may come up not in stock...
UPDATE: NOT IN STOCK

Quick question... I am ordering a full-size spare.... are the OEM wheels considered "chrome" or "polished"?
