OK I just found out that I need new rears and the BFG's are B.O'd till June. What would be the best replacements to use in conjunction with the correct BFG KDWS fronts? The 295/45-18's or the 255/55-18's and in what brand/style?
Thanks, Frank
Check out this link, it has tons of info on sizes, combinations, etc.

Speed rating and sidewall loading specs are important considerations. Lots of us have gone to 255/55/18 aftermarket tires in the rear with OEM BFG's in the front, but there are various combinations that will give you close to the same height ratio.
Nittos are a good choice, as are Falken, Hankook and Ventus. I'm running General Grabber UHP. Guys are running Goodyears as well, but they can be pricey.

Hey Cheesehead, Thanks very much for the reply. That link is where I found those alternate tire sizes, just wasn't sure. I was swaying towards the 295's for the width but I think I will go with the 255's.
Regards, Frank.
So I'm looking at the Goodyear Eagle ResponsEdge 255/55-18. Thats a V rated. Is that ok to use with the OEM BFG Z rated fronts?

Has anyone installed the suggested Ventus 295/45-18 on an completely original Marauder with stock wheels? It's gotta be pretty close to the fender.
Thanks, Frank
Would 285/50-18 be ok on an 04'?![]()
I decided to go with Hankook 235.50X18 on my rear 10" wheels. I am still running BFG OEMs on front with the 10" wheel, and have had no rubbing or other problems. The fronts still have plenty of meat on them, so I will match them up with some more Hankook's, if I find I like them. I never get any decent rear tire wear, but I have to climb a monster concrete hill to get in my garage, and rears simply get " pushed " more than fronts. I find the OEM BFGs are very loud, as well.

I installed the Ventus295/45-18's on the rear. They fit fine but they do bulge. Where do you guys get Marauder wheels widened and how much?
Ok guys, what am I missing here? I understand all want to run tires as close to the original size/height as possible, and on '04s there's a concern regarding traction control/ABS, but why not go to a slightly shorter tire? Aside from not quite filling the fender wells as much, there are a number of selections that allow proper front/rear differences to keep the TC/ABS happy. Look at this 'matched' tire size(s), and tell me what you all think:
Fronts = 245-40-18 Diameter = 25.7
Rears = 255-45-18 Diameter = 27.0
Front/Rear Difference = 1.3 (Exactly as the factory stagger)
Front/Rear overall diameter difference = -1.5"
With this combo, there are many matched sets available, and in an all-season performance tire. Has anyone TRIED going to a shorter tire? Less sidewall deflection, so the usual problems associated with the taller tires goes away....

I went with 255/55/18 Dunlop SP5000 for the rear, and oem front.
They have been on a week, I have not launched on them yet.
I did get great service from this last set of BFG's.
The Dunlops were not much different in costs than the front oem's.
I got all four for less than 450.
