    Car Transport Service

    OK Folks,

Does anybody know of a GOOD car transport service (that use enclosed trailors). With my move changed from California to the DC area we're looking at using this type of service. Thinking about it, I believe this will be cheaper than flying out to Santa Barbara, driving from left coast to right coast, and then fly back to Omaha to get ready for the move east.

little late for me to look em up but ill get you the info tomorrow sometime. used them for my cousins 1963 chrystler imperial (19.5 ft boat) and my 1969 ford ranchero (not as big of a boat but still big) no problems at all and took great care of our vehicles. choice of in closed or outboard reasonably priced (considering the price of gas) and located in Sacramento i believe. will be using them in the future if needed. (off the top of my head i believe it was TNT transport but will verify in the morning)

I used a moving company (forgot which one it was) several years ago to move my 85 Saleen Mustang (and my household stuff). I got over $1,700 worth of damage to it. Most of the damage would not have occurred if I had been there when they loaded it up. They had a flat bed tow truck pick it up to load it into the moving van. They drug the air dam on the bed, folding it back under the car. When it was in the van, they through a tarp over it and then put a wide tie-down strap across the roof, they attached them to the floor under the car (attach points were about a foot in past the sides of the car under the car). When they cinched down the strap, it broke both (fiberglass) side skirts. They just didn't care enough to make sure they didn't damage it. When I went to pick it up, it also had a dent in one door and the tape stripes were sc***** badly in one place.

looked up the information we used a company called Tn'T Auto Transport

    http://www.tnt-inc.com/

    located in Carlsbad California

they contracted this job out to a Gerald Green whom works for Passport Auto Transport (FedEx Custom Critical) but they are located in Maryland Heights, MO (passport.fedex.com)

    1-800-325-4267

    mobile: 636.699.3120

These vehicles were located in the heart of San Fransisco and both drivers went through HELL to get these vehicles on their trailers.

both the imperial and the ranchero were transported in enclosed trailers (but this must be a specified request)

whomever you use, take out the additional insurance - someone bought my '66 mustang convertible from california and has it shipped using dependable auto shippers - after it left new york it was dented - bumper torn off - brakes wiped out. and thety would not cover anything.

spend a little now - or a lot later..

p.s. FEDEX has a custom critical shipping unit that shippes cars in enclosed trailers and will give you a quote right on their web site

Make sure the company will not subcontract the work to an uninsured company and pocket the profits. That happened to my boss' 1967 Continental Convertible and they damaged the front fender and the roof. Then folded and hit the bricks when he made the $13,000 claim.

Used then twice, completely satisfied with their professional service. Great communication for pick up and drop off, white glove treatment, etc.

As I'll be working up at Fort Meade, we'll be looking in Calvert, St. Mary's, Charles, and Anne Arundule counties in MD. I use to live in Charles County.
