Local Car Show @ "The Glen" in Virginia

I decided to forego the long trip up to Towson, MD for the Hooter's Car Show and attended one here locally at The Glen about 3 miles from home.

There were about 50 cars at the show sponsored by the local shopping center. Food, Drinks, DJ & live music, and hors d'oeurves served by the waitresses from the Old Original Steakhouse.

The Bluerauder drew lots of attention from the crowd and I spent the better part of 4 hours talking to people about the car. Most couldn't believe that it was a daily driver. As usual, some had never heard of it. Others knew and want one.

Got to see my first "new" Dodge Challenger SRT8 (black on black) at this show. He parked 2 spaces over. The guy ordered his back in December and has had it about 1 month. Dealer mark-up was $8000. Don't think he generated as much attention as the MM.

Judges were tough and seemed to prefer the classics from the '50s-'70s. There were some real beauties there, too. No for the Bluerauder this time out; but I did get a barbeque set as a consolation prize. Losing to some real classics ain't bad ..... we'll be there soon enough.

Part of doing cars shows is picking the event that is best for your car. If you review the site http://www.capitalcruisin.com/ you can enter a event every week. I personally don't choose to bake in the sun all day for a plaque of trophy, but sometimes I do. In the last 6 years with the Marauder I tend to like events with food, toilets, music, and a mixture of cars that I can compete with. I really like the afternoon (3:00 o'clock) shows because a black car looks better in the evening light. Classic car shows are not a good match if it's a judged event. Popular votes means working the crowd. Be careful of the Club sponsored events because they are bios to there members.

    I hear ya!!

Charlie, Bob and I attended a show up in Hamilton*, Md. a few years ago.
Charlie & Bob had their immaculate S/C Marauders front and center at the show and I drove the 427 Cobra.

NONE of us took any trophies.

Members of the local car club, that sponsored the event, took ALL the trophies....Imagine that!

We knew that the voting was rigged when a half-baked, clap trapped POS V8 Vega took a trophy home.

(*North side of Baltimore near Fullerton)

There was a VERY unique 1969 Mustang Mach I converted to a 4.6 DOHC motor at that show...

BTW: Charlie, 'Ole Blue looks as SWEET as ever!!....

I found the frozen food aisle in SafeWay to be rather refreshing, relaxing, and cool.
