Motorcraft 5W-20 Synthetic blend every 3,000 miles. My oil never gets offended when I change it.

doyounochef: as you can see from the answers above, people use many different brands. The short answer to your question is "use whatever oil gives you that warm and fuzzy feeling and change it at an interval appropriate for your driving style."

Today's oils are far superior to those of 10-15 years ago. The rule of thumb today is that conventional mineral oil can go 5,000 miles, synthetic-blends 7,500, and full synthetics are generally good for 10,000 miles.

Royal Purple is a great oil...use it with no worries.

One thing to pay closer attention to is the filter. Use the factory-recommended Motorcraft FL820S...it's the best value-for-money out there. WIX and NAPA Gold are also excellent choices. Mobil 1 and K&N are also high-quality filters, but very pricey for no added value. Avoid FRAM.

I used to use Royal Purple then I was able to get a deal on AMSOIL full synthetic. So far have about 2k miles on the present oil change and the oil still looks fresh. I'll continue to use the AMSOIL now since I can get a deal on it and a lot of the local 8,9,10 sec race car owners in my complex all run it in their muscle cars and use it on their clients vehicles.

When I change the oil next time I'm going to send off another sample to BlackStone labs for them to take a look at it.
