97 Grand Marquis With Crate Engine

Ok so I just inherited some money from a deceased relative. So I was going to put in a new motor rear eed and tranny in my car. No I don't want to buy a marauder. But will this crate engine fit in my car hood clearance doesnt matter also what tranny and rear end should I get.

You would spend $10,000 on an engine plus whatever a rear end, trans, parts, and labor will run but you won't buy a Marauder and drop a little into a already powerful engine?

Think about it, you kill 2 birds with one stone. Sharpest car on the street plus some mods to make it spit rubber all over the f****n' place( If that's your thing).

So you're building Grand Monster/Marquise to destroy and conquer all Marauders?

No offense, but I see where you said it'd be your daily driver and I see you're 16.
You really have very little if any "seat time' driving any car and to drop a motor built like that in a street car is going to do at least one of the next two things, drink so much 93 octane you won't be able to drive it around the block unless you own a gas station or possibly get you or someone else killed or maimed from the combination of horsepower and inexperience.
If you're bound and determined to go ahead with this project(which I don't recommend) you'd probably be better served by joining crownvic.net,there are some guys there who've done some radical stuff to their Panther platform cars like your GM.

I bet that engine is no bigger than our 4V engines... dimension wise.

I'm telling you right now this is a bad idea. It would be cool, but people have problems getting a 5.4 under the hood of the Marauder and it doesn't clear by one inch. Now you have a bigger engine than a 5.4, this will be even worse. John from John's Sterio did something like that, but he put in another 4.6 in his car (just the Marauder DOHC engine) and he had to go through a ton of trouble and cash just to get it to work. He said if he had to think it over again he wouldn't have done it. You are looking something that will cost you a ton of money and if you are doing this yourself with help from friends/family, it will cost even more time.

When I was 16 I wanted a fast daily driver that had an old school engine too. The truth is it will work, if you keep $200 worth of tools in the trunk and about another $300 worth of spare parts like plug wires, plugs and belts not to mention have a ton of knowledge on the engine and be ready for anything to happen.

If you have enough money to play with, by all means have the time of your life. If you want to do what's best by having a fast four door and the best bang for your buck, buy a Marauder and sup it up. It will cost less, everything will fit and you will have detailed instructions incase you want to do everything or the absolute best bet is to buy KillJoys Marauder... it's already done and running 12s would be something it would do on a hot day.

I know what it's like to be 16 and the best teacher is experience. If you have enough cash you will try this anyway and go right ahead. A Marauder with a blower and a few other do da's makes a great 12 second street car. It's been great for over a year now.

Since you have a bottomless checkbook and free labor why don't you just contact John Force? I'm sure he'd sell you one of his old funny cars. Putting an alternator, lights and blinkers on one of those should keep your Motor Pool cheif real busy.

Seriously. With gas this cheap why even mess around with a naturally aspirated 521 cubic inch engine?
