Thread: Door Keypad code?

  1. #16
sometimes it is located in these places. I had my door panel pulled and have my code. I use it all the time. Nothing is better than the code especially if you lock your keys in the car.

My future Marauder had a couple of white tags with the code on them in the owner's manual. I'd guess the first owner never installed these in the car. It also has a white credit card with the number on it.

do a search there are complete instructions.

Remove door skin and read the back panel of the keypad module.
Begin by removing the two 9/32 screws underneath the door skin on the bottom. Just take a look down there, you will see them.
Next, use the flathead and gently pry the cap off behind the door handle. Use a torx bit and remove the screw behind the cap.

Now we have to remove the switch assembly cover that is in the door.
Use your flathead and gently lift up the front of the assembly so you can grab it with your fingers.
Lift the panel up gently from the front and make sure to slide the assembly forward and out.
Be carefull: There is a clip underneath.
Remove the last screw hidden underneath.
Thats all there is to it as far as removing screws. If you removed more than 4 screws, you are wrong!

Now you are ready to remove the door skin (or pull it away anyway). Carefully pull the door skin out and up to get it to come off.
There are hooks on the inside that just lift up and out.
Code is on the back of the module.

Since I forced the Chrysler dealer to get me the code for free from their neighboring Ford dealer before I bought my MM, this is exactly what I do in the rare instance I don't want to carry my keys with me i.e. basketball, biking, swimming, etc. I know it's risky, but if the theif is brazen enough to bust my window in broad daylight in front of other people, then I'll let them take her and buy another with the insurance money.

If you don't know the code you couls try this if you have plenty of time:

So, you know those cars with that keyless entry pad? The one under the driver's side handle? Well, if you look closely you will see that there are really only 5 buttons, labeled "1/2", "3/4", "5/6", "7/8", "9/0". In an effort to avoid a little confusion, I'm going to call those buttons 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9, respectively.
A little experimentation will reveal that, if the code is 11357, and you type 5113579, the door will still open! This means that with 7 characters we managed to try out 3 sequences - 51135, 11357, and 13579. After the inital 4 numbers (which sort of primed the pump) every digit tries one new sequence. Since there are 55 length 5 sequences of characters from an alphabet of size 5, we know that we'll need to try 3125 sequences total. With our intuition from above, we would hope that we could find a sequence of size 4 + 3125 (priming the pump, followed by one new sequence every keypress). It turns out that a mathematician named de Bruijn has already done all of the hard work for us on this one, and all of the relevant math can found under the names de Bruijn sequence and de Bruijn graph. But I'm not going to talk about math any further here. Right now, I am going to give you a sequence of minimal length that, when you enter it into a car's numeric keypad, is guaranteed to unlock the doors of said car. It is exactly 3129 keypresses long, which should take you around 20 minutes to go through.

That's cool, but you can reduce it further. I know of no door code that consists of the same character more than twice in a row. So that will eliminate 555, 9999, 22222, etc.
