    Post Louisville meet planning factors

The event thread has become a shout box and I wanted to say something really important..........now I forget......oh yeah, event planning.

Mike, is there a "show and shine" in there somewhere?

Second, with that many cars, 45 now, parking lot congestion could be a
problem. May I suggest, appointing someone to go ahead of the group and secure adjacent parking spaces, after coordinating with the manager of the host destination, using traffic cones and yellow tape (from home depot). Coordination should be done before D-day.

Select host activities with big parking lots on premises or nearby.

Fortry five cars are not going through a stop lite at one time without a police escort, will we have such an escort going to our destinations, how about the return trip?

Going through several jurisdictions would require the Sheriff Office to provide escort, like a furneral. Also would this be considered a parade and need a permit?

If we don't have escort to all functions maybe we should split into smaller groups (stop light timing) with designated leader cars and proceed to our destination so as not to get separated or lost and picked off by the Apaches. Has happened before.

Sorry, my mind just works this way. Good luck in your planning Mike.

Waaaggoonnss HO..... Head 'em up and move 'em out.
    Regards,

I agree about the hotel parking, it would be nice if we have a preapproved, coned area with no interlopers or rental cars.

There are concerns that come up every year I host this meet.

I can assure everyone that steps are being taken to ensure as much as possible us staying together. And for our safety.

We have 5 local members (myself included) that will be scattered throughout the convoy to ensure no one gets missed. And to make it to our destinations promptly.

FRS radios also come into play as well as cell phone number sharing.

I also encourage everyone to print out the itinerary/directions once I post them up as an additional precaution.

Friday will require a Police escort as we will be traveling to and from downtown. (Donations for this will be solicited as I cannot cover the cost myself. I did this last year and was a tremendous success!)

We will be parking in a garage, and will make every attempt to have all the cars together during our downtown stay.

For those not driving a MM; you may want to consider riding with someone that has room in their MM to help us keep track of the cars and reduce the overall car count by a few.

I will be in contact with the General Manager of the hotel to see what can be done about 'coning' off parking spaces. Or maybe we do it ourselves??

Everyone's concerns are appreciated and guarantee this will be a success!

Pat, great talking to you this morning!

    Mike.

Right now, you couldn't shove a needle in my backside.

I am humbled over the amount of people that are attending this year.

The first KY meet had about 18 cars. Look where we are now!

This will be one helluva time for all!

I dont think we need any special accommodations at all.
The cars are 5-6 years old, and regardless of which one I drive to the grocery store nowadays, you seldom catch me parking in the sticks anymore.

And if 30+ Marauders dont cause a scene on their own and stop traffic in the process, I surely dont know what will!

Exactly. I use mine as an emergency vehicle when I respond to the Fire House.

Yeah, maybe if you're in the Black car, but the REAL Blues Brothers still consider their cars something special.

Looks like more Blues than DTR's will be present.

    That makes DTR's more special.

Just a suggestion but if we travel as a group lets have a sort of rule cars that are not Maruders are at the end of any convoy. No offense but it looks like hell to have 10 Marauders drive by, then a pink Chevette, then 5 more Marauders, then a yellow Corvair, then 8 more Marauders. If you come to this and you dont have a Marauder, thats fine, just kindly wait til the back of the pack. That is all, over and out.
