Clunking Noise

When I turn the wheel (short little turns) on my 03 MM to the right or left it makes a clunking noise. It sounds like it could be the rotor clapping against the rim, but I tightened down the lugs and everything is tight. It sounds like metal against metal. Anyone have any ideas? Can it be the steering or maybe a tie rod?

mine does the same thing but only when turning to the right. im still clueless on what it is. even the shop couldnt figure it out they all say my car is in great shape. so
