I don't have a clue but I can tell you that by removing the two rear cats the stock mufflers sound great.
If I gave a crap about gas mileage I would own a bicycle. With my luck I may have to go bike shopping tomorrow.
Black '03 300a SOLD. 1993 Crown Victoria LX. 5.4L Supercharged/6speed. SOLD. New ride:
I am pretty sure they can't be straight through, nothing OEM would meet sound requirements if they were, and the OE's wouldn't put packing in a muffler.

My second set of cats are removed. I have the Stainless Steel long tube headers metal matrix high flow cats. From there 2.25 pipe to Magana flow two in/out to oem mufflers. I don't like the cobra sound. The system is quiet & no drone. I just think I want to remove the two in/out Magnaflow and install some Dynatech 11"log 5" diameter round mufflers with a H pipe to oem mufflers. I feel this will restore the original sound and a slightly higher db.
