1969 Mercury Marauder

We have inherited a 1969 2 door Hard Top Ford Mercury Marauder(yellow with black vinyl), VIN #9z60k544897 with 70296.3 original miles. Car has always been garaged and has not been driven since 1991. We wish to dispose of this vehicle at a fair market value. What is a Car like this worth. This car is for sale. See attachments. Thanks.

More likely a 390 marauder power plant, 429 was for the X-100 model.

According to vin it's a 429 but I will check tag on door...owner was an exxon service station operator, They just quit driving the mercury when they acquired a Jimmy.....The wife drove this car, he drove his pickup.

I thought the X100 only had the 429?

Thats not an X100, it doesn't have the center console shifter, let alone alot of other things

No fender badge "X-100" X-100 also had hide-a-way headlights. Most were two-tone with a tunnel back roof line.

I drove a 69 Marquis - 2 door with a 429 in High School. Only had the 2 barrel. Dumped the hub caps for some Keystone Classics. Hide away headlights, lots of power, looked cool back in the day and most importantly had a huge back seat.... Just right for high school. Top speed? Don't know, speedometer only went to 120 (no cars on the road back then in the everglades).

The didn't hole there value at the time and not highly sought after as a collectible now. So I don't think this one is worth a whole lot, especially in the current condition. That said, I'd love to have one... Just would expect to pay a bucket full of money for one.

Word of caution... Whoever gets one, make sure you secure the throttle spring. They had a tendency to pop off. Ask me how I know

Back in the day you could order up a Marauder and Marauder X-100 with any of the available engines: 390 2V, 429 2V, or 429 4V. The 'k' in his VIN indicates his is a 10:1 ratio 429 2V rated 320hp. The 'n' code engines were the 10.5:1 ratio 429 4V at 360hp. (I may be off 1/2 a point on the compression ratios, going from memory here). Still a very desirable engine and basically only an intake swap away from quite a few more horses. The X-100s have been more sought after of these big old Marauders, but one in any trim with a good body is desirable to those that like these bigger than life Mercs. Anyone that has driven one with a good suspension knows they are the smoothest and sweetest ride on the street, just don't try to keep up with a modern day Marauder on the curves!
You will probably find that these do not usually sell for anything close to what the NADA classics value lists for them, unless the car is in exceptional shape- and these are very few and far between. These old Mercs have grown in popularity though and their time has yet to come. I have personally found that they have a limited following, usually someone that's had some experience with the bigger Mercs generation.
You have a nice old Marauder there, and if you have a spot to store it out of the weather you might consider letting it rest for a few more years or the day might come that you look back on this day and wonder how it ever got away from you.

All the Marauders and Marquis in '69 and '70 had hidden headlights. The pictures of his show the doors open as they all do after the vacuum leaks off.

Yup, that's the way I remember them as well. I think the rear deck from the window to the trunk fascia was painted black on the X-100, wasn't it?

That is the way I remember those cars, as I always liked the X-100. I believe it only had the black paint on the trunk.

My dad had a '69 X-100 (429-4V) in Yellow and the deck was not painted black.

It didn't have A/C and shifter was on the column.

Top end of those Beasts had to be up there considering they had 'airplane' gears in the rear.

If I remember correctly, there were little over 3,000 made that year.

What I am unsure of in the pics above is the steering wheel.

I thought in those years they had the "rim blow" horn on the wheel?? (Different than the one above)
