Why? There's no sense in revving past 7k. Most of them stop producing power between 6200-6500.
To answer your ?, the only one I know of that has changed gauges is John (TMF) in his ProRauder.

If you spin the motor up past 7 grand, you won't need a tach.
what would you need then?
a new motor!
Didn't somebody try raising their rev limiter and shift points so it would rev close to 7k? They discovered that the PCM is too busy with the engine at that speed and it loses track of the transmission shifting, causing blown engines and/or transmissions? Seems like something like that happened, maybe to a CAM member?

I remember the same thread...I questioned if that was really true, but never got a response.
Hard for me to fathom that a modern computer processor could be overloaded by engine functions just because you've gone from 6,800 rpm to 7,000 rpm...
I agree with the 7,000 rpm redline being 'more show than go'...you would need the 'Naz' intake and GT cams to make real use of 7,000 rpm in our cars.
Getting back to your original question...you could 'Rice it out' and mount a HUGE tach on the dash with a gigantic shift light....right next to the fire extinguisher on the 'A' pillar.
I'd throw a few TYPE 'R', APC racing, and some Akimoto stickers on to help get her over 7,000 rpm.

Seems to me I remember Zack running 7K or close to it. I know my car was still making power at 6250rpm and I plan on moving the limiter over...
