Question Base tune or use Lidio's tune for break in?

    Hey all,

When the motor is installed do you think I am going to need a special base tune for break in (500 miles) or can I just used the one loaded up by Lidio?

    Opinions appreciated!

    Cheers!

I'd talk to MMR about it. I think you should use regular dino oil for the first 500, this will let engine run hotter and let the rings seat properly. Take it easy, no burnouts, don't drive the same speed, don't let her overheat but do get it up to full operating temp everytime you start it. Your old tune should work fine. After it's broken in then get a dynotune. This would be the old school way. Others will say fill it up with synthetic and take it to the drags. Again I'd ask MMR. Can you post the dyno sheet you got from MMR? All of their engines are suppose to come with one. BTW very nice!

As for the engine, it may not run with the tunes you have. Cams, displacement, injectors, MAF changes or just the cams & displacement?

As for the name change, it would really be hard to keep up if I (or Zack, or a few others) changed screen names every time we changed engines/displacement/setup. Name changes are for trying to hide (i.e. diabolical/AJ).

Duh, injectors will be a big item, 24 to 39 is a big change. Fordnut is right, you'll need a new tune.

    welcome to the site noob

I highly doubt that a lidio canned tune will work for a 5.0L built motor.... Just get a dyno tune, why even ask?

This is an interesting thread. I am not sure how you got far enough to get an MMR motor and then want to cheap out on a tune. Oh well...

But yeah to answer your question, you should get a custom Dyno tune. Your car has too many changes to it to use a base tune whether factory or otherwise.

    Good luck with your build.
