    Horn

OK, here's a new one for the group:

Just tonight, the horn on the Winged Messenger started honking by itself. Not stuck on, like on TV, but occasional random toots, like when you honk at a friend. I disabled the horn/light flash when locking the doors via the key-fob weeks ago, and I've tried removing the batteries from both key-fobs, so that's not it, either. Finally had to disconnect the horn to keep from annoying the neighbors...God bless computer controls...

Do MMs come with some sort of alarm? It used to be that if you had keyless entry, the horn would honk if the doors were opened without unlocking them. I don't think Ford cars do that anymore since PATS was introduced. One test to see if there is an alarm is to get inside and lock the doors. Wait a minute or two, then open the door. The horn will honk if it does have an alarm. If that is true, maybe the alarm feature is the cause. My parents used to have a van with that alarm and one night, the horn started honking for no reason. It ended up being a corroded ignition switch I think.

Maybe you have a neighbor who operates some sort of electronic equipment with the same frequency as your car. In the mid 1960's we had (what was then) a new remote controlled t.v.. There was a milk truck that used to go down our street a couple times a week and it would change the channels on our t.v. every time it drove by. Funny as heck, but very annoying!

I'm not too sure about the alarm system on ours cars... My friends 2000 Camaro SS has what seems to be like ours, but his has impact sensors too. We found the out one day. We were in his garage on day trying to remove tips he over torqued on his car. He had the car locked, and after about 15 mins of beating the ****nit out of his exhaust, the alarm FINALLY decided to blare. Makes you wonder if these things are really any good or not, but ehh, least it keeps me from locking the keys in the car, and I do like the fact that no one can hot wire the car. Ever see a demo with someone trying to start the car with one of these systems without the chip programed? LOL, it's pretty funny, and amusing none the less!
