If you sent somebody alot of money via paypal and 24 hrs had passed with no word from Receiving party. At what point do you begin to wonder if something stinks..

I am really impatient. Some people just don't move as quickly as I do on the internet (I check all my emails literally probably 100 times a day) and so I get nervous like it sounds like you are. Then I end up with angry sellers telling me they don't think they're taking too long.

It's been my experience that if it's "alot" of money it make take a day or two or three till you get confirmation.

don't rush things either, you can't really. Paypal and eBay have provisions for a raw deal, and if you're in the right it usually isn't that hard to get back what you've lost. What you need to do for sure if you do have a bad feeling about things, is to document all communications you make with the seller and also document time frames. Nothing will give you better odds in a disputed money case than to have solid evidence in your favor.

I have purchased a few cars, including my Marauder, through PayPal. Give the receiver at least 2 days and if you hear nothing, then perhaps send an e-mail. If I remember correctly, after ten-days you can file a dispute and if nothing is heard, PayPal will get involved and place a claim against the recipient. If necessary, be sure to follow the time-limit guidelines through PayPal to avoid the possibility of forfeiture.

I use paypal daily, and for nearly every purchase I make online.
Many, many vendors and sellers accept it now a days.

Paypal also protects the buyer from fraud IF the seller is verified.
If you are sending money to just some joe-smo unverified there is a potential for a hassle.

However, as the seller accepting funds over the amount of say $500 really needs to be verified. If not, he is limited to the amount of money he may withdraw/transfer from his paypal account at any one time. It's been awhile, but I ran into this myself when folks here sent motor donations to me. I, being unverified, was only able to withdraw (some low figure) of like $250 or something PER MONTH!

Obviously, big sellers MUST be verified with paypal which requires bank accounts, social security numbers, and some other info.

I wouldn't sweat it just yet.
After a day or so, log into your paypal and find the transaction.
From there you can contact the seller and ask "what's up".
After that, you notify paypal that the seller is unresponsive.

My wife and I both have had paypal refund funds after we were taken for a ride.

Indeed not only do you have to have a account linked to the site but a backup valid credit card as well. I think they even run a soft credit check because it took a few days for me to get verified.
