After 2-3 days the light is still on (she doesn't drive it every day), notice fresh fluid spots on garage floor so something is leaking; make an appointment to have car looked at today. I follow her to shop; notice the 3rd brake light isn't working on the way. After giving the mechanic the key and explanation of what is wrong/needs attention, we get in my car to go home...my car won't start. It turns over, but is not getting fuel...suspect fuel pump crapped out right at that moment. So, go back inside garage and give them the key to MY car and get the key back to my mother's car, leave MY car at garage and come home in my mother's car...like, really?
That was a very efficient trip to your mechanic, though! Merry Christmas? Ha!

I had this problem with my infrequently driven Marauder.
Occasionally, with NO warning, it would stop running....WTF!?
    Bang on fuel tank...Vrooom!

Well, it's hard to do something one isn't aware of...lol. And besides, I would have had to make the tough decision to ask my 82 y/o mother if she wanted to either bang on the fuel tank or cycle the ignition.
At any rate, the car has 178k on it and the fuel pump was not cycling on when trying to start, so regardless if I could have gotten it to start up again it needs a new fuel pump. Might as well replace the fuel filter as well as it's been about 50k miles and 4-5 years since last time.

Yeah, like I want to be mad about it but I can't since it happened in the parking lot of a car shop...lol.

Maybe....but pulling the fuel pump in a Panther is a PITA.
They're charging by the hour for labor, so.....$$$$

What did you do to your car today?

    Riddle me this…

Why a pump AND a relay? Did someone perhaps misdiagnose?

When the mechanic called and told me it was the fuel pump, he suggested that the relay be replaced as well.

Got a call from my local mechanic: Driver door lock actuator (or similar) needs replaced and programmed, master switch panel needs replaced (physically broken switch), and front passenger window motor replaced...most of which was original parts... A non performance way of spending $800....and NO i cam not capable to changing the window motor myself, but the other stuff he's doing cheap. I'll save SOME money on this, but wow.

Crap, this just reminded me that I have yet to get my front passenger window fixed. I put it on hold when it broke 3 years ago, then 2 years ago the driver's front window broke, which I did have repaired (which I created a thread about that). I guess since I had that one fixed it caused me to completely forget about the passenger side.

Over the past month I've bought:

    - Switch bezels for both front doors ($100)
    - Used/good condition interior carpeting since mine is mildewed ($60)
    - Headlamp assemblies because mine have started to get condensation inside; found a good price on a new pair and jumped on 'em ($250)
    - Had windshield replaced a week ago; has had long crack in it since 2015/6 ($350)

And now $760 for the fuel pump. I don't mind spending the money, just doing it all over a short span of time is knocking the wind out of my sails...

You may want to mention to your mechanic that the sending unit can be pulled without dropping the tank.
You "feel" the difference because you want to "feel" the difference. Since you just spent money on the upgrade you "have" to feel the difference

I'm looking to eliminate the double pump process I have to follow right now to get the pedal hard

I think Maude will be parked until the weather breaks, or at least until some of the salt is washed off the roads.

Finally picked up a replacement for her.

Quite a few tasteful mods already done and a whole list of new ones to be added. Super clean body, already removed the visor, silly air horns will be in the trash tomorrow.

Purchased with a knock from the oil pan at a greatly discounted price, no biggie, the prices on these parts are literally laughable when compared to modular… Anyways, get that yanked and sent off for machining, and get some rear fenders ordered from LMC for now.

Plans are to slam it and restomod it. All new suspension, nice big wheels tucked up in the fenders, Wilwoods all around, and the rest is bits and pieces.
