How was getting out the cross member? I may have to do the same and hear it is a nightmare.
    Was tons of fun.
Took some creative prying and a little hammering to get it out. It's definitely getting a good shave before going back in. Let me know if you need a hand when the time comes.

Had new rear axle housing ends put on my 9-inch, upgraded to 40-spline gun drilled Strange Engineering setup. New Strange HD Pro aluminum bolt-thru carrier with 3.70 gears and lightened spool. Strange low profile calipers and two-piece rotors. Also added Billet Specialties 15x14 double beadlock Winlites.

Strange makes great components! They built me a third member using the HD pro aluminum case 3.250 for 35 spline axles on 4.11 gears , Very well built stuff!

I've driven it 191 miles since 2011; which is why I really haven't been on here. It makes me upset sometimes.
But on the upside, it only has 58k on it.

Maybe I'll get to drive it next week.
    Who knows....

#1 Factory one died at 51k.
#2 Got a stock replacement from John (TooManyFords). I botched a j-mod with the screen and bent the separator plate and the one piston was upside down. Blew out 3rd and 4th gear.
#3 built unit from Eric lasted 191 miles. Lost all forward gears
#4 Eric mans up and rebuilds it at no cost, trying to make things better. I applaud him for this action. But it never had 4th gear.
#5 75k mile unit out of a CV LX sport (from a friend) Only because I just want to friggin drive my stupid limited edition paperweight.

Man you have patience! I would have sold it a long time ago..

#4 might have just been the OD band servo not making contact with the OD band. Been there. Oops. Easy fix to engage it. Good luck on #5!

I'm not gonna lie, over the past year I've been reading your thread about doing the TR-6060 swap, and it's been becoming more and more tempting.
But not as tempting as a 75k $100 transmission. lol.

Did a radiator, thermostat, and hoses on a customer's aviator. Naturally did a test drive afterward. Not a bad little vehicle. Would be cool if it were supercharged. Wonder if there's any out there that are. Will add to my lottery list.
Definitely way better than my stepfather's v6 exploder.

Finished the transmission install. No leaks. Runs and drives well, minus the speedo being waaaay off. (04 trans in an 03). I'm already talking with Marty about getting the correction tune for it.
I cannot wait to drive it.

Yesterday, I was sitting in traffic with my nephew, when all of a sudden the car gave off a loud bang! Instinctively, I exclaimed "What the **** was that??".
Started hearing and intermittent, short-lived clacking sound, loud af! Pulled over, shut 'er off, popped the hood and had a looksee. Nothing glaringly obvious. Fire it back up, wait for the noise - started thinking timing chain guides. Not too serious, let's ignore and deal with it later.
Get back into traffic (we had the Caribana parade here yesterday, so every road in the southern half of the city was clogged), get halfway to the next light when I notice the coolant temperature climbing. Okay, now we have a real problem.
Pull over again, pop the hood. Let it run while watching. Put my hand on the fan shroud, and voilá... distinct vibration sync'ed with the clacking noise. **** it down. Peer through the gap between the fan shroud and the top of the rad, while giving 'er the reach around. Spin it until I see what looks like a crack on the outer ring of the fan blade. Confirm. Then, pause to figure out what to do. Patch it or park it and deal with it later.
There's a school parking lot with shade right near where we pulled over, so I move the car over there. With a close look, realize only 2 bolts hold the fan and shroud in place, and luckily they're 5/16" or maybe 10 mm... idk, but I carry a 5/16" for hose clamps, and that does the trick, for the fan shroud mounting bolts as well as the coolant expansion tank and power steering reservoir - thank you Ford!
Next question is how to remove the shroud from the engine bay without disconnecting the very hot coolant hoses... lifting straight out doesn't work, but rotating the shroud - which is rectangular, not square - does, albeit with some finaggling around the expansion tank return hose.
Got the shroud out. Place it on the engine, plug it back in and test to verify. Yep. Also, noticed wear on the fan blade ring on one side of the crack, where it was striking the shroud.
Remove the fan blade from the motor with a hammer-wrench and aformentioned nut-driver.
Pull out my 20 year old roll of Nascar-grade duct tape, grab a golf course pencil, wrap it tightly around the crack (to add rigidity), re-attach the fan blade and give 'er another test. Starts off okay, but returns to the loud af clacking within a few minutes.
Remove and inspect. The mass of the pencil was too great, at high fan rpms deforming the tape and pushing outwards into the shroud.
Take 2: duct tape alone, no stiffening material. This works much better.
Re-install shroud, and get back on our way. Clacking continues, but is much much quieter, and the engine does not overheat. Arrive at our destination, none the worse for some grime on my hands and face (it was 30 Celsius yesterday).

Interesting story. Didn't realize it got that hot up in your neck of the woods.
Did the exhaust on stepdads exploder today(technically yesterday).
Needed muffler and tailpipe. Dealership quoted 11-1300$(and he works there).
"Well, the flange for the muffler pipe is bad and it will need the y pipe too."
Incorrect. You guys need a welder and someone who knows how to use it.
Parts from napa: <$200. Did it on the ground in the driveway in a few hrs while also helping my younger brother rebuild a carb.
The biggest surprise was the napa muffler is actually stainless.

Sunday - Replaced the cooling fans in the wife's Charger. The ring around one fan split causing a very loud clicking noise. Ordered new assembly from Rock Auto (used 5% off), around $100.00 with shipping. Old one came out with no problem - 2 bolts, was a B***h getting new one in because the motors are about a 1/2 inch taller.

Changed the oil on the Marauder and fixed parking brake release handle. Replaced the Marauder's battery last Monday. Got 87 months out of a 52 month DieHard battery. Replaced with another DieHard.
