What is the story with the guy who put a Tremec 6 speed in his Marauder? How can I put one in mine and the most important question... how much?
the tremec TKO/3650 physically bolt up without too many modifications. The transmission crossmember bolt lines up exactly with our 470Rws. a T-56 would require you to elongate the bolthole in the crossmember, but it wouldnt require you to hack up the crossmember. A new driveshaft is required also. Now comes the hard part. Pull the carpeting front seats and console out of the car. Cut the hole in the floorpan for the shifter, and modify the console. Grab the fixed pedal assembly out of any crown vic, town car, or mercury, and bolt it in in place of your moving pedals. Now grab the clutch pedal assembly from a SN95 mustang. A brace has to be welded to the firewall side on the other side of the pedal bracket, and the pedal actually must be moved up slightly, because if you line it up with the gas and brake it actually hangs too low, and contacts the floorpan. Next have a bracket machined in a horseshoe shape, and drill your firewall on the driverside to accept this. This bracket will be what holds the master cylinder for the clutch assembly, and I believe the slave cylinder sits on the tremec somewhere. Replace the flexplate with the cobra flywheel, and if you are going to get an aftermarket clutch assembly now is the time to do it. Bolt the clutch together with all associated bearings and forks (if you know your way around a manual transmission you know what im talking about, if you dont, print this up and give it to a shop cause you probably shouldnt be doing it.) Bleed the fluid assembly and test the clutch modulation. Finally, your car wont start when this is done. Contact reinhardt, or whoever it is that does your chip, and tell them to eliminate the automatic transmission function. Now your car should start, and you can enjoy your 6 speed. I did this on my impala SS before it was wrecked, big cars are fun with sticks too.

P.S. on the downside, you will not have a neutral safety switch like basically every other MT equipped car since 1970. If the clutch is engaged, the car will start, and you could turn your living room into a drive through.
(I almost did this with my impala shortly after i finished it.)

Stunning piece of re-engineering. Never under estimate the resourcefulness of the individual with a wrench in his hand and a gleam in his eye.
How about the Aviator 5 speed auto, will it fit and work with stock crossmembers and basic reprogramming? What are the gear ratios with the Tremec 6 speed and the Aviator 5 speed auto?

One note to add: The t56 has a reverse lock out solenoid. It prevents you from shifting into reverse when you are moving forward. When the t56 is OE, the computer or other source disengages the lock at the appropriate time. You will have to wire in a switch to manually operate it. Or, if you are clever enough, you can tap into some sort of speed sensor (such as the speed sensitive volume on the radio) and have it open at 0 mph.
Second, here is one source of aftermarket clutches. Depending on which flywheel you choose, there are many sources. But, this one is popular lately. http://www.specclutch.com/
