Y'all enjoy. I'm going on the "Secret City" tour. Periodically (used to be annual but after 9/11 it's hit & miss) they have a public tour which takes you into parts of the Y-12 complex. This year one of the highlights is the enrichment facility that was used for making "Little Boy". The facility that did the enrichment for "Fat Man" has been dismantled.

For those who don't know, I live about 20 miles from Oak Ridge which is the Secret City that was created for the Manhattan Project.

Coincidentally, I have an interview tomorrow with USEC (United States Enrichment Corporation) to work at their ACP (American Centrifuge Project) in Oak Ridge. The project is the result of privatization of Uranium enrichment.

    Brian, that sounds awesome.

Mike, Chris, Larry, and anyone else who makes it, have some bacon, eggs, and sausage for me please. The hog farmers of America have taken a big hit with my heart attack.

Quite an interesting visit. Learned a lot about the enrichment process and the business overall. They have 4 operating facilities plus the corporate HQ. Oak Ridge is where R&D, testing and prototyping is done. Portsmouth (Piketon, OH) is where the centrifuges will be operated for production scale work. They also ran the gaseous diffusion plant in Paducah but it is shutdown and being decomissioned because the centrifuges are much more efficient than the diffusion process. It's all LEU enrichment for reactors, no weapons grade stuff. It sounds really interesting, I hope I get it, but even if they make an offer I have to wait for a background check & security clearance.

Tis true oh wizard of all things radioactive Working for a GA Tech incubator sponsored company that develops some pretty robust SQL reporting tools in ASP.Net 2.0 development evnvironments.

Big market opportunity, company has about 140 customers now, trying to take it to the next level......... We shall see Been there 2 weeks, and so far response from people I have spoken with, and my tech guru friends that I sometimes rely on for technical due dilligence has been pretty favorable.

I'll have to miss this one as well. Finishing up a business trip to FL. The wife is enjoying herself at the beach, while I hustle around the state trying to pay for it.

If you were "hustling" around in your avatar outfit, you may find a few more takers.
