    electrical problems?

So I changed my alternator because my volts were dropping around 11. I started the car up and drove around and it was doing the same thing. so i changed the battery and still the same thing. I kept the new battery because its a better battery anyway and I had everything tested and everything is at 14.2 volts but my gauge still says 11 sometimes and my lights dim when I put a load on the alternator/battery. anyonelse ever had this problem?

Bad battery and/or ground cable, check all connections, verify voltage at alternator witha DVOM, then check the voltage @ the battery, if there is more than a volt of difference, you have a issue with the cables, whether it is a connection or the cable itself.

If that checks out, measure the voltage at the back of the gauge, see if it's the same, but if your lights are dimming, I'll bet on the problem being up front.

I have seen these alternators put out the correct voltage but little or no amperage, and vice versa.
