Just wanted to give everyone a heads up that STAP meet will be happening this year. It will probably be a bit different this time though. The plant went on a 4 day work week so friday tours are no longer possible. Right now we are considering several options:

We will either have a plant tour and meet on Thursday, June 14th and then a night of drag racing from 6-9 p.m. for our group exclusively at St. Thomas dragway.

Or, we can have a meet on Saturday, June 23rd and go drag racing from 6-10 p. m.

Or a third option for those coming from far away is to have a plant tour and a meet on Thursday, June 21st with a night of drag racing from 6-9 p.m. Then those who wish can stay in Canada for the weekend and go to Crown Vic day at the drag strip on the 23rd for more racing.

At the moment we are getting a show of hands to see what option would be favoured the most. So far, it looks like we will be having a meet on the 23rd and the tour will be omitted this year. BBQ lunch and drag racing at night still sounds fun though. I will update this thread ones we have an exact date set.

Well, this was the information that I got from Judy Albert. If we could have a tour on the 22nd, that would be the ideal solution because we would be able to go to the track in the same day and it would be perfect for everybody.

Last I've heard she's retired 2 weeks ago so I am not in touch with Ann Antunes. I will contact her with regards to the date since I was unaware that 4 day work week will be over.

With the lincolns moving back to Canada I wouldn't be surprised by a return to full schedules. You'll need the extra hours with twice the cars to build. Am I wrong?

For the 4-day work week,it could be changed due to order amounts and the fact that the plant is going to be shuffling a lot of people on jobs.People from A and B shifts are now going to be mated as one shift so this will tie up production some what!

I believe the Town Car Job 1 date is around August 7th 2007,but that can change.

I received a new email from STAP today and it's not looking good. I will just post a quote,

Good Morning,
Hope all is well with you. In regards to the tour you would like to
schedule for June 22, as of April 5th, the plant will not being
scheduling tours until September due to the plant going to one shift
and
the Town Car launch preparations. Sorry for any inconvenience this by
cause. It you have any further questions, please feel free to contact
me directly.

This means that the tour will not be happening. Because of this new development, we will be having a meet on Saturday, June 23rd followed by a night of racing. Exact meet location is to be determined but we can meet initially in STAP parking lot where all prior tours were held.

A bunch of CVNers are getting together for a BBQ and a night of drag racing at St. Thomas dragway on June 23rd. Anyone is welcome to join us.

So, as of right now the details of the meet are as follows:

Date: June 23, 2007

Meet Location: Pinafore park, St. Thomas Ontario Link.
Time: 11:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. aka noon.




Drag Racing Location: St. Thomas Dragway, St. Thomas, Ontario Link.
Time: 6:00 p.m - 10 p.m.

Here is map of key points. STAP was placed on there only for reference. There will NOT be a tour this year. Link.

Those who wish can meet us at the strip at 6 p.m. or join the convoy from the meet.

....I am glad you guys are at least meeting up this year that is great.Pinafore Park is a nice park I use to play baseball there.
For me I am busy the entire day June 23rd other wise I'd show up to meet you guys finally.That's ok maybe next year!
