    K&N filter question

I don't like the chrome cap on the end of the K&N filter. Since it is pointed almost directly at the hole where the stock box drew air from, it doesn't take a geneus....geeni...a ****ing smart person, to figure out that cap must be blocking some air from entering. The end of the filter on the JLT was, well, it WAS a filter. Does anyone running a K&N have a filter that is NOT capped at the end? And if so where did you get it?

The K&N filter (RF-1041) that comes with the kit has a 6" diameter inlet flange. K&N doesn't make a X-Stream filter (with the open end) with the 6" flange.

Summit shows several other companies that have the same diameter inlet flange and an open end like the X-Stream filters. You will just have to decide on the other dimensions as there doesn't seem to be any direct dimensional matches to the K&N RF-1041 filter.

Hmmm....rats. Thanks, tho. I wonder if the JLT filter would work??

There are some that are fairly close you just need to decide on the top diameter, bottom diameter, and length. Mostly any will work as long as they are not smashing into anything.

Check out this link to Summit and then select the other dimensions you want.

I don't think the cap is gonna make a real diffrence. I would consider closing the box in with some ABS plastic and connect to the stock intake area for a true CAI. I've been working on one for myself and have considered swapping to a smaller filter. I have a JLT maybe later after i'm done we could swap, my filter is in perfect shape

Yes, yes....the wheels in my head have turning on this also. Everytime I pop the hood, I just do not like how it is set up. AND, i miss the noise of the JLT when you blip the throttle.
