I think the relay failure directly correlates to the length of time the headlights are on.

The longer they are on the shorter the life of the relay.

If you only drive during the day the LCM may never fail.

Interesting points. I typically have my light switch set on "Auto", I wonder if that may be a factor as well?

(BTW, I'm referring to the failure of the original and OEM replacement relays, not the HD upgrade FBM installed).

Like I said, the longer you have the headlights on the quicker the relay will fail.

    Thumbs up Thank you, Jim

Your exceptional service allowed me to keep my DD running and safe. I had sweated out night driving for almost a month--- sure is nice to have running lights again. The tech who installed it remarked that he had no problem popping it right in. For those who haven't had the failure, when it occurs, don't hesitate to contact Jim. Saves lots of headaches. Again, thanks Jim. Maury

I have 4 LCM's in stock that have had the headlight relay replaced with an external heavy duty relay and the three other relays inside replaced with 15A units.

    Yes there is.

Last I heard there is a back order for the LCMs. I'm still waiting on mine. I have one of my upgraded LCMs installed, but I wanted to get a new one to see if there has been any upgrades.

Members have reported various problems after the LCM was "replaced". Some have even gotten the "Dorman" fix from the Ford dealer, which hasn't worked out very well either.
