    Shock Absorber Hickey??

I finally decided to put new shocks on and got the Monroe Severe Duty ones!!

The OEM's were AC Delco not Tokiko or whatever they should be??

Anyway.....AFTER installing them (FUN JOB) I noticed in the boxes were foam hickeys that apparently slide down onto the shaft under the dust sleeve....see attached photo of the old shock!!

What do they do and are they necessary??

I hate to think about doing the whole thing over just for these hickeys!!!

    Tnx!!

Just in-case the car bottoms out hitting a hole or what not to keep the metal parts from slamming together.

Not to ruin your day, but yes they should be put back in there, for reasons stated above.

So....should I disassemble it again to install them??

I was thinking maybe they are dust wipers for the piston rods??

Ya they should be in there all it takes is one good slam and you can do some damage without them.

An hour and 45 minutes this AM......FIXED 'em!!

Rear shocks were a different story.....these Monroes are fatter and would rub the 295's worse so I performed a bit of metal surgery.....FIXED them too!!!

    UGH....I'm tired!!!

Feels better done right than always looking at the front end and thinking "crap". Well done!
