Question New to exhaust, what to get?

I have a 2000 grand marquis, and I want to upgrade my exhaust. I dont want my car to sound super loud or obnoxious i just want it to breath better. the guy at my local store try to sell me on magnaflows 50 series I believe. he said they were not loud and would add some gain to my power. the cost for 2 would be 300 dollars. he said he had some none name brand ones that would do the same thing and they would cost 200 dollars. what do u think?

Does your car have factory duals now ?just adding that will make a differance and with free flowing mufflers you will be happy with the results.

There might be a cat-back for the Crown Vic by Magnaflow, might want to look into that.

Yeah I have the dual exhaust. I put the magnaflows today and boy im so excited.
The car sounds great when I accelerate. It doesnt sound all obnoxiois or anything
The dealer recommended I put some thicker pipe , a cat back to get better results.
    What do ya think?

Won't do anything if you get 3in pipe and ur muffs and cats are smaller. You ether do mufflers and remove rear cats with some tips or all the above + headers 3in exhaust hi flow upper cats but that's big bucks

If you go with 3" or larger pipes you'll lose alot of low-end torque.

The largest you want to put on is 2.5" which the part number for the mufflers are AT2525. Make sure not to get the AT2525XL models cause they have a resonator inside them.
