Dayco Belt or GatorBack Goodyear Belt

My belt looks a little worn.... and when i turn my wheel to the left, i think the belt is squeeling...

So, RockAuto.com has a few options... a straight groove belt Dayco...

Or The Goodyear Gatorback (has a pattern on the belt.. quieter or something)

Anyone have opinions? only like a 10$ difference.

I have a Gatorback on Phoebe that I bought in a moment of weakness. I can tell absolutely nothing about it that warrants the increased cost. I am a big fan of Dayco tensioners and pulleys and would not hesitate to use one of their belts.

After many belts that didn't work (Gates, some in-house brand, etc.), the last belt I put on my MM was a Dayco. It was fine unless it was really cold, then it would chirp at me. Gatorbacks could be had for cheap on eBay, NEVER buy one from a Goodyear store/garage though, they cost about 400% of MSRP.

My experience was very much not normal from what I've read though...

None of the auto parts houses around here stocked Gatorback at the time, only the actual Goodyear stores, and they were selling them for between 80 and 90 bucks. I was more than a little frustrated. I didn't end up owning the car long enough to buy the Gatorback off eBay...

I peddled a lot of cheap belts for 9 yrs at the auto parts store. I always special ordered Dayco for my car. I wouldn't consider the Goodyear a waste of money either.

I've always used Gatorback on all my vehicles so I can't really comment on Dayco besides that I have their tensioner and pulley on my MM which haven't given me any problems.

I say "To each his own".

    I installed a gatorback s belt & no problems. Going on 2 yrs/+20k miles

Both are good brands. It's just a matter of choice/preference.

Does your MM have any mods? If S/C Gatorbelt stretches. Gates is the best.

Call 1-800-FORD-788 and press "1". Have the last 6 of your VIN handy. You will get the numbers for FREE. You'll pay $$$ for the certificate.

MM traded in 8/9/13 @ 128909 miles. It was fun for almost 8 years. I met airmercpun on 1/17/14. He was the new owner of my former ride. -Now gone.

Update: back in the game with a late build 03 GMGS with some MM add ons like Escape audiophile radio w/Sirius sat radio, rear sway bar, catback exhaust, and header panel.

See my garage file for part numbers and whatnot.

IMHO, this site- the members that I chat with- and the ones that I now Hang with- are like my 2nd family. There is such an ongoing welcome feeling here that even members who don't or no longer own the MM can feel.
