Metco lower pulley and upper pulley for eaton swap help ???

I have several different options for my eaton swap here.

Lower pulley measures roughly 9 1/4 inches overall. Does that mean this is a 6lb ring ? is that too big?

When it comes to the blower pulley I have :

    Stock, 320, and 280

What combo should I use? I don't want to blow this thing up. Also anywhere to find out the exact Gates belts to order with the correct combo?

For fuel I have: Stryker 340lph pump, 40am BAP. Also have Stainless works headers and full exhaust.
Car is soon to be for sale...

03 300A: Full SW exhaust (sold their crappy mufflers for $50 and replaced w/ Dynomax and factory tips), JLT, GMS connectors, NGK, 4.10, lowered, Zack fuel filter mod, Xcal tune, Musclemerc catch can. Non go fast stuff: Tint, Vinyl wrapped chrome, badgeless, spoiler, blendmount and hardwire V1, trunk organizer, factory changer, BC4E Dead pedal

I have a 2lb lower (Cobra stock IIRC) and a 3.0" upper. 10 to 11 pounds of boost.

So you think I should sell/trade the lower ring for a 2 lb?

    That is a 6lb lower.
6lb lower and stock upper: 13psi
    6lb lower and 3.2" upper: 15psi
    6lb lower and 2.8" upper: 16.7psi

You need to worry about belt slip, IAT temps and a rich tune with timing pulled at these numbers on a stock block.
I'd rather have a 6lb or 4lb lower and keep the upper stock to reduce chance of the sc belt slipping on the pulley.

Cool deal! So I can just sell the upper pulley rings. Good to know. What do you think max boost on stock block would be?

I was accidentally shipped a 4lb lower and when I had my dyno tune done with my 3.0" upper. Car made 15lbs and was still going up. My tuner refused to finish the dyno since my motor is stock. Luckily a local MM member on our web site DTUB was at my dyno tune and had a spare 2lb lower in his trunk that he gave me.

So my 2lb lower + 3.0" upper = 10-11lbs of boost = nice safe tune with no hint of belt slip.

Which equates to me celebrating my Wreeeeeeeedom!!

I'm running a stock upper and 2 lb lower and making just under 11 lbs boost. I think Zack's pushing 14 on his car, so I'd say that's a good range to target on a stock block.

So the larger crank pulley would cause belt slippage issues? Would that happen even if I kept the stock upper pulley?

What kind of numbers did your car make?

The larger lower pulley and the smaller the upper pulley, the greater the potential for belt slippage. I've not had any issues with slippage running my set up (2lb lower, stock upper).

For less belt slip bigger pulleys are better, they have more contact area. So rather than changing the upper pulley to a smaller one to increase boost, it's better to change the lower to a bigger one.

I'd like to have a stock size lower pulley, mine is currently an underdrive (6.55").

    Excellent points, Brian.

What are you currently running for an upper?

This is kind of what I was thinking but I don't have an exact answer yet. I was thinking almost along the lines of tires (wider has more contact patch etc) So would I be ok with the 6lb lower and stock upper to make 13psi without turning my car in to a grenade?

As long as you had a nice, rich, retarded (retarded timing) tune, yes. Let me know if you want to swap that 6lb for a 4lb. I was thinking of getting a 6lber.

It's the one that came with the blower, a 3.5"

If I change to a stock size lower it should bump me up about 3 lb, to about 20 psi.
