    Post Supercharger Availability

I read, continually, of new members inquiring about superchargers for 03/04 Marauders on this and other car sites.

Our membership has been helpful by recommending vendors who market complete, ready to install kits. (Pro-charger, Vortec/Paxton, Trilogy).

The DIY (Eaton Swap) option, although gaining popularity, is not a ready to install kit, requires a lot of time to find parts (if available), has no formal installation instructions, requires a knowledgeable mechanic and relocation of engine bay equipment, no uniform start up tune and ready access to a Dyno.

Kudos to those who have successfully installed the Eaton, your names are in the Marauder hall of fame.

However, there still seems seems to be a market for complete, ready to install, SC kits.

In recent years our sources for complete kits has dwindled to zero, no Vendors of S/C products on this site, the ranks of mechanics who installed the kits or Eaton's has also diminished.

The point of this post is what do we advise our new membership about where to purchase S/C kits?

If I have made an error concerning the Eaton Swap intuitive feel free to correct me.

I see a business opportunity here for an entrepreneur with certain connections and qualifications.

    Regards,

    Pat

    Eaton swap kit

I couldn't agree more. There is without a doubt a market for a kit.Opportunity is knocking..We would need to set up a few mechanics able to do the install in various parts of the country...If you are seriously considering putting together a business plan, count me in.bugsy

The problem is the relatively small size of the market, and the cost of the kit for what is rapidly becoming an aged platform. Getting harder and harder to justify spending $4,000 - $7,000 on a car that's only valued about that much. The cost of capital for putting together, and carrying inventory, for what may only be a couple hundred unit demand isn't a real compelling business model.

That said, yeah, I think it would be great if someone has the interest.

The only way to do it economically would be to get licensing from Trilogy since they've already done all the R&D and parts finding.

That's a good point, Bill, but one can only ponder what a licensed kit would cost. In order to do this, and maintain parts in inventory, you'd be looking at a pretty substantial investment. To get any sort of financial return, you'd be looking at big bucks, prolly well over what Jerry was charging for his kits.

    That is a great idea.
There costs are around 6 to7k which Rex suggests is not a money making
    operation. True.
But I would be interested just the same.
The other option is a 03 Cobra engine with a whipple which if done right
would be around the same costs or a little more. The good news is more
    power.

True Rex, what I had in mind is a adunct service to an existing or new busness entity. A central link pointing people who ask these questions. Like the classifieds in a weekly, under it's own forum, paid for by the people who offer such services.

For example: Service's Forum, Supercharger, kits/parts/installation, listing:
ABC performance shop, (put contact info and service performed)

Mr. K's lnstallation of S/C kits, any brand or Eaton swaps.

Doom's S/C installation check out service (Our Motto - "it works or it don't).

    and so forth.

This would be an info link only, no posting within the forum.

Gotcha, now that's a neat idea!

One suggested change to the above:

Doom's S/C installation check out service (Our Motto - "It works or it don't, and if it don't go, chrome it.").

Now that I think about it, a very reliable person to do installs would be ZACK.
I read his posting on the Chicago SVT forum, concerning Todd's (Bodyman)
it looked first rate. His labor rates are not over priced. It is fair considering
how much time is involved. As to obtaining parts. that is a task.
ZACK knows these cars every which way.
Do I want to send my car away for a long period of time? NO but I want it done right.
so that is my choice if I am to farm it out..
