Thread: Rim sizes

    Smile Rim sizes

If you put 18x11 rims on the back of the car, do you need to offsett the size of the front tires by wideing them, or can you just widen the back? I like the look. Also what kind street tires would you guys recomend for every driving? Will there be scrapping. I was going to cut the stock rims and get them welded and widened to 18x11. Just in the back. Any recomendations on sizes or any other feedback welcomed.

    Thanks,
    Woody

You can run widened rears and OEM fronts without any problems.

So no scraping problems? What size tire recomended to avoid scraping if there will be any . Thanks for the tire links by the way. If I increase the width in the front, it will probably stick out to much, but will it help the car handle better going around sharp turns?

IIRC, 295s - 315s are about the limit before you start getting some interior rubbing on the shocks.

Larger diameter sway bars and aftermarket control arms and Watts links will do wonders for handling; much more so than going to a larger tire.

Tommy at Sparta can get you hooked up with the above suspension components.

    +1 ^^^

I started with rear upper and lower control arms. That made a huge difference. Then I widened out my rears and hello!! She sticks to the ground with little flex. It'll really tighten up the back!

Well 18x11s with a 1.5" hub centric spacer is the widest you will want to go, anything more will stick out beyond the wheel well.

As for tires i run a M/T 30x12x18 with no rubbing what so ever.
