    Borla Stingers

Finally got around to that video tonight. It's pretty raw. Next step is high flow cats to mellow it out a tiny bit.

No cats and the res delete tips. This setup was supposed to be all about the sound, which is now a little overwhelming, I guarantee I'm not getting any additional performance.

That is true, no performance gain in swapping mufflers and deleting cats. Now put some headers on and we have a different ball game.

I like the throat of the sound, a little loud though. Unfortunately, in Cali, I have to have both cats which limits my ability to get the sound I want.

The stock mufflers and one pair of cats are restrictive. I did a muffler swap and had the rear cats removed, noticed better mid-range power and dropped a tenth off my 1/4 mi. Have to remember an engine is an air breathing machine, without the addition of fuel and spark air-in and air-out have to be balanced otherwise power will be lost.

It's a safe bet that you would need a dyno to see the power increase of a muffler change especially going to a legit high-flow muffler such as Magnaflow, Borla, Aero Turbine.

I thought it was proven that the stock mufflers were not so restrictive. The restriction was in the mid-pipe size and the headers. Muffler swaps was mostly for sound and very minimal hp gain.

Our stock mufflers are not as restrictive as other stock mufflers but when you compare all the baffle chambers in the stock muffler to a straight-thru design such as a Magnaflow it's night and day.

This is your average stock offset/offset muffler

    Flowmaster 60 series muffler

Straight-thru with flow straighteners to reduce backpressure

Straight-thru with fiberglass packing to reduce noise

It's actually really dim, it's perfect. I haven't been pulled over for the exhaust yet, or the 5% tint, or no front plate, in IL, even when I go into the city, no issues.
