I said this in another thread where the owner was having the same exact problem. I think you need to check the battery. A failing battery will send the improper amount of 'juice' to all sorts of different sensors and stuff, and will trigger a code and make your car run like ****** ****.

It has happened to me and it sounds like what is happening to you.

    Check battery, report back.

Until this morning I was sure that a battery wouldn't cause issues like that.

My colleague called me that his company truck wouldn't start this morning (5°). He said it whirled over fine but wouldn't catch, and that he would have the jumpers ready. I went to his house and he demonstrated that it cranked just fine, but no start. I put the jumper cables on, but didn't think it was going to help. Sure enough, when he hit the key his truck turned over slightly faster than before, but it caught quickly.

I've had vehicles that would barely crank over, but would still start...I've never seen one before that cranked normally but wouldn't start unless jumped. I learned something new today.

Bob, my Escort does this if it doesn't turn at least half speed. I'm sure the computer reeks havoc with sensor and timing count correlations between the crank and cam.

Until it happened to me, I was convinced of the same thing! Previously, the only car I ever had a battery issue on was a '77 Cordoba, which just plain wouldn't start. Never thought it'd manifest itself like it does on the new cars, but with everything (and I do mean everything) being controlled by electronics, it's not surprising at all.

That is a common issue with Marauders. Check the harness behind the drivers side cam cover also. May be rubbing on a bolt from the cowl.
