    Tachometer Problem

My RPM tach works now and then...when it wants too! Does anyone know how to fix this? Is there a cable attached that needs to be fixed? As Marauders become less and less, there are less and less parts available.

    A new cluster fixed mine.
But it took 2 years to find one with comparable miles on the odo

Mine has gotten a little "twitchy" its in really small amounts though. Only at idle. I'm very OCD so I notice it. However over the past month or so its been 100% fine.

If that ever happens again, send the cluster to me I can put whatever miles you want on it.

Maybe I should send you my original and you can figure out what's up with the tach?

Tach on my 2004 is just now doing this. Either it works fine, doesn't work at all, or shoots all the way to the right and stays there. Is a cluster swap the only fix?

    Warmest Regards!

Don't know if this question has been answered already and I don't feel like doing 'research' to find out at the moment...

Are our gauge clusters Marauder-specific? I would tend to think yes since it has 'MARAUDER' stamped on it, but would like confirmation from the gurus...

I predicted a massive barking of your back tires at about 42.7 miles an hour when that shifts, lol.

My two-cents: All things being equal, an intermittant tach fluctuation or non-functioning is possibly a precursor to a failed or failing crankshaft position sensor and the PCM failing to receive a signal momentarily (nano-seconds) but recovering before presenting other issues or causing the engine to shut down.

That might be a possibility. How would that account for swapping out the instrument cluster and the new tach works fine?

Or in my case, to where it is in-active and a light tap awakens it
