Pushing off a wheel refinish for one season, Bronze plastidip

Just cleaning the wheels now... 1st coat going on shortly. Will update with pics and progress and final look when done. Plan is 5 coats of the matte black finish with 2-3 coats of the copper metalizer over that. Crossing my fingers, hope I like it. I am a huge fan of black cars with bronze rims...

Trying to put off getting the OEM wheels refinished for at least a year until I decide to widen them or not.

    MORE TO COME!

Are you going to put a on a glossifier?

Debating on it. This is the test wheel.. I kinda like matte but this car begs for some shine...

If your car is black I would put some glossifier on the wheels, it will make them pop even more.

I've always liked the matte bronze... Glossifier is in the cart online if I decide to go that route. Got all the matte black coats down, see if I don't mess up the bronze part!

Horrible pics of wheel... going to do the back rim tonight... roll it outside for some pics and see if I like it... Car need to be lowered though for sure. Also ignore nasty pics of wheel wells.. will be detailing and painting parts shortly...

Not liking it. Looks like the wheels are dirty.

    Good luck!

Was kinda my thoughts when I first bolted it on... wondering if I did the glossifier if it would save it...

Really looking like I will be getting these refinished soon instead.

Also that is only one coat of the copper metalizer.. maybe needs more to make the color distinct...

I think it needs the glossifier.

I did my stock wheels with the matte black plasti-dip and ended up getting a set of Mustang GT wheels to use for winter. The Mustang wheels are gloss black and make the car look 10x better.

Better lighting finally... still not the best with the snow and overcast day... Got the rear wheel off now, going to do same base coats but 2 vs. 1 coat of the copper metalizer to see how that looks.

You can see that this needs another coat in good light, base matte black shows through too much

and the back headed to be sprayed...

I have to agree I think the shiny bronze would look better but just my opinion.

if you use the matte white instead of the matte black as a basecoat the bronze will 'pop' more and IMO it will look better that way.
