5 speed Grand Marquis rear goes boom

So after the CAM Marauder meet Sundy, (which was great by the way), I went home and wanted to play with my other car and I decided that I would practice launching it, in hopes to take it to the track one day. Well as the title says....

What do I do at this point? What do I need so this doesn't happen again? The car has a T-45 trans, 11 inch center force clutch, 8.8 rear with posi-trac 28 spline axles and 4.10s. Stock drive shaft with mustang yoke.

Check out the video and see picture below.

For you guys with these stick cars putting a ton of power to the rearend I would look really look at putting a 9 inch rear end in. It should be bulletproof and you wont have to worry about this again. I know they are pricey ($2000-3000) but do it once and you are good to go.

Well that's the thing, its a stock motor with just a few bolt ons, under drives, exhaust, and cone filter. That's it!

Op, now try it with 20#'s boost, twin disc, and 4.30's!

    http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forum...ad.php?t=86476

That was done on the street with street tires, line lock off, and AFTER the clutch was up! I made it about 3' BTW granted a used set of gears, but every other single part in my 31 spline set up was brand new 5,000 miles ago..

Im still afraid to lay into it again..

Keep us posted on any progress or further pics of the carnage.
    (#6178 in black per FPIC)
Call 1-800-FORD-788 and press "1". Have the last 6 of your VIN handy. You will get the numbers for FREE. You'll pay $$$ for the certificate.

MM traded in 8/9/13 @ 128909 miles. It was fun for almost 8 years. I met airmercpun on 1/17/14. He was the new owner of my former ride. -Now gone.

Update: back in the game with a late build 03 GMGS with some MM add ons like Escape audiophile radio w/Sirius sat radio, rear sway bar, catback exhaust, and header panel.

    Rest In Peace:
    Alex "Marauderboi" Vachon 3/2/92-8/13/10
    Paula Babineau 1/9/67-8/2/11
    Rex Weinbender
    Peter

See my garage file for part numbers and whatnot.

IMHO, this site- the members that I chat with- and the ones that I now Hang with- are like my 2nd family. There is such an ongoing welcome feeling here that even members who don't or no longer own the MM can feel.

You don't need a 9 inch in my opinion...but you MUST use a girdled cover. I would not own a car without one...PERIOD!
