    Voltage Drop

    This is kind of odd...
I was driving the Marauder last night on the highway and floored it like usual. When I looked at the tach, I noticed the dash lights were very dim. I looked at the switch but it was on high. About 5-7 seconds later, the lights were bright again. This is weird. So I floored it again and looked at the voltmeter at the same time. Sure enough, the needle drops to battery voltage and does not go back up until 5-7 seconds after I take my foot out of it. But it doesnt end here...
I started to test it at all speeds. If I floor it at any speed, but dont get the rpm's up(essentially, just let the trans downshift) it will lose voltage. So im thinking its tied in with the trans some how. But its not. I floored it from a dead stop and lost voltage at around 20 mph. If anyone is having these same symptoms, please reply. I have never heard of, or seen this happen on any other car.

You may need to take it in for altenator testing. Is your car hard/slow to start sometimes? Do your instrument lights flicker at a stop?

    Well...
I here the alternator pulley has a clutch in it,it de-clutches to free up a bit of drag as the RPM comes up,so if this is the case with any electrical load the internal portion of the alternator would slow,(or even stop) when the pulley RPM is suddenly increased.

This is a quote from the service manual,

"All Marauder 4.6L 4V applications are equipped with a one-way clutch (OWC) in the generator pulley. The OWC pulley temporarily disengages the generator rotor from the front end accessory drive (FEAD) system during high acceleration/deceleration rates on the engine, which may increase belt life and decrease belt chirp. A new OWC pulley and generator/voltage regulator must be installed as an assembly."
