Why change back to non synthetic?

    I run Mobile1 0W30.

People put WAY too much thought into oil. Your motor doesn't care, unless you go wild and put in 20W-50 or something.

It's an old wives' tale that you can't go back to conventional once you switch to synthetic. You can go back and forth all you want, although there's no good reason to do that.

Just use a good filter, like the Motorcraft FL820S, and you'll be fine.

Dont use 5w-20 thats what ford recommended to meet cafe requirements. 5w-30 makes a huge difference in the long run.

I've been using Motorcraft SAE 5W-20 for the past 11 years. No problems and still runs great !! Motorcraft FL820S filter too with every oil change.

I'd recommend getting an oil analysis done.
    http://www.blackstone-labs.com/

It will tell you what is going on inside your engine and will recommend oil change intervals. I get mine done once a year.

I also use Amsoil in all of my "Keeper" cars. The 2010 Fusion Sport gets Mobile 1
I have never had any problems with a true full synthetic oil in any of my race cars, show cars, of classic cars. I also change the oil between 3000-4000 miles. Trans and rear gear fluids get changed at 20,000 miles, if not sooner.

That's false. Ford did a huge amount of research and was one of the primary developers of the 5W-20 spec. Motorcraft 5W-20 is an excellent and robust oil, especially when used in a modular motor. Where are all the cars littering the side of the road because they died early from using 5W-20?

I agree, i have had an analysis done every 10,000 miles with the 5w-20w conventional with no problems to date on the NA Marauder. I use synthetic 5w-20 on Slayer1 and have no problems but will be going to 10w 30 on the next change on the boosted car because of the increased stress on the internals.

I've been using 5W-20 and 5W-30 for 20k miles or so. I just supercharged mine about 3k miles ago. Should I be using a heavier weight oil like 10w-30 or 40?

10W-40 is loaded with VIIs (Viscosity Index Improvers) and will shear down in no time. Sheared VIIs contribute to clogged rings so I would say no.

In AL, 10W-30 would prolly be fine, but 5W-30 would be better...the faster you can get oil flowing on a cold start, the better.

I agree 100%. I've run Motorcraft Synthetic Blend 5W20 probably 75% of the time but I do switch to Mobile 1 5W20 in the fall so I can get through the winter without having to change oil. I've always used the Motorcraft FL820S also.
