Recently I have been driving to the other side of the state twice a week since I started my new career on the Maryland Eastern shore and I've been on the highway 95% of the time. I use cruise control daily to rest my foot/ankle and to avoid getting red/blue lights in my rearview. It's been working great for the last six years but now it's causing unattended spikes in the RPMs. I can be cruising anywhere between 65-75 mph and all of a sudden I'm at 6,000+ RPM coasting down a hill or flat surface and when you accelerate it immediately drops back down to a more appropriate range then repeats this foolishness throughout the trip and I just turn the s***% off and use the pedal. Sounds like my trans is toast when using cruise but if I don't use it then the car runs flawlessly. I just quit using cruise control on the MM altogether and I really miss it. Any ideas before I go to the stealer and get financially *****. Already searched previous posts. It seems like a computer or sensor problem more so than a mechanical problem. So Annoying
