Question Wilwood Brake Rotor Hats discolor..

I have addressed this before... but I'm bring it back again..
The attached photo shows that the Aluminum rotor hats have discolored to become sort of a REDDISH-PURPLE color...
Probably does not bother anyone but me... And I understand how use and age has caused the anodized finish to deteriorate. (they are five years old..BUT IT STILL BOTHERS ME...
The obvious fix is to buy new ones from TCE and replace them...and I may do just that...
How about some LESS EXPENSIVE ideas... could they be painted with heat resistant paint..?
With proper surface preparation (remember they are aluminum) and just paint the rotor hat and the socket head cap screws all black...
Any thoughts would be appreciated... as always...Architect

I have the same problem. I may try powder coating them and using stainless fasteners.

Mine show signs as well, but are still black as this car has not been in a lot of rainy conditions, a Combination of heat, brake dust, wet when in rain etc.

I would probably have the hats you already own powder coated, no need to buy another set.

Heat and UV guys. Black ano fades.

Wilwood has gone to paint some years ago. I can't find someone to do e-coat here in Phoenix.

Tape em and paint em. PC works but is thick and can cause other problems.

Probably best to use an etching primer as not many paints hold well to aluminum by themselves.

Maybe some POR-15 with a black top coat.
