Requiem for a 300A
As some of you may already know, Ol' Black's ticker gave out a few weeks ago after returning from the KY regional gathering.The answer to everyone's question is 187K w/4.10 gears. No compression in #5 cylinder and best guess is a bent valve.
It was one heck of a trip and wouldn't have missed it for the world. Of all the rides I've owned, Ol' Black had what I called the highest HTR (head turning ratio).
So what's next you ask? Well, due to a recent accident at work, my wrenching abilities will be pretty limited for a couple of months which forced me to go buy a used car. Hopefully when I heal up I'll be able to do a complete swap something on the order of a 5.0 cammer.Might even be able to get it done by MV5.
Oh by the way, the used car I bought is this big 4yr. old 4-door black Mercury w/26K on the odometer and resembles a Grand Marquis and has some shiny 18" wheels and has been named Ol' Black II.
