Help with P0340 code

My wife's 06 Mustang GT is throwing this code P0340. It through P0344 one time. The P0344 is intermintent cam position sencer. And the P0340 is cam position sencer bank 1. So I replaced the sencer on the passenger side and cleared the codes. Still getting the code. Then I took the old sencer and put it in the drivers side and cleared the code. Got it again.
So my questions are, Witch side is bank 1? Is there some common problems that cause this code? Like a loose timing chain tensioner and not a bad sencer or loose wire. Am I looking in the wrong place? Thought I'ld get Greater Minds Then Mine on this. It is a 4.6 3V with 78,000 on it.

Bank 1 is always the bank with the No. 1 cylinder, in this case it's the passenger side.

Since you already replaced the sensor, it may be a wiring problem. Are you having any driveability issues?

Yes the Mrs. says it's not driving right. This could mean anything. But I think she's telling me it misses every now and then.

Bank one is passenger side. We have seen alternator noise cause this also.

If you want to bring the car in we would be happy to look it over.

Thanks for the help guy's. Marty the shop's a little far off, but not out of reach. I'm going to continue to try to solve this problem locally. If I can't I will make an apointment. You mentioned altenator noise, my first though would be bad ground or sheilding wires. How would I check for this?

It can be the alternator or the wiring itself.

Troubleshooting it can be tricky.

I agree, I've seen alternator issues cause this concern. It can be an open in the circuit but I've never come across that...... yet.

Update: After months of monkeyn' around with this. Tracing wires, messing with sensors, checking the altenator, Clearing codes. The answer is.......... The altenator. With no warning the altenator dropped dead this weekend. Replaced it and Bingo no more codes. After Marty and Sparta Performance pointed me in this direction I researched and Ford mentioned frequency problems with these altenators. I couldn't find anything wrong with it when I tested it. But I didn't know how to check the frequency. It was the altenator all along. Thanks Guys!
